Do you think you have the energy and courage needed to change things within your current environment? Do you need a change of setting? Or do you need a change in what you do?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years if you stay? Where could you be if you did something else?
Christine- I have been pondering this same question. I wonder if a change in venue would be helpful for me. I've been asking myself, what else could I see myself doing if it was not teaching.
Christine, I was thinking more about our conversation about 'what a teacher can do when she is done teaching.' We talked about making a list of all the things you accomplish and the skills you have, but I was thinking about how a potential employer would review your resume. I think it would be incredibly important for you to learn how to 'sell' yourself, having the confidence to KNOW you could do Job X as advertised. It would likely start with some brainstorming and writing; I was thinking about how much group dynamic you manage, the creativity involved with running a classroom and designing lessons, the evaluative nature of your brain as you assess constantly. It would probably then morph into a change in your resume...really revising what that looked like to sound less like a teacher and more like a manager...
Just thoughts as I was driving home yesterday... Jen
