In the reading, the authors say that "literacy practices are patterned by social institutions and power relationships, some some literacies are more dominant, visible, and influential than others".
In my mind, this meant my parents, social groups, and teachers. Who or what was the most visible and influential institution or relationship that created your literacy patterns? Discuss your patterns and connect them to early, dominant influences. OR, discuss how this is not the case and isn't true for you. I'm curious to know how many of us have direct influences to shape our literacy or if there are some of us for whom it's been an innate experience.
